I resourced and project managed the installation of mobile PC technology into RAC vehicles as part of a 16-year role as Information Science Development Manager. I was responsible for innovating, implementing and communicating technology improvements and put together regular training guides to inform RAC personnel about new technology in their vehicles.
I am also a keen meteorologist and often provide guests with accurate weather forecasts for their stay!
Several years after meeting Paula and getting married, I left his career in information science to set up our own business renovating property.
I spent many years as a mortgage expert, working my way up from a building society cashier to Senior Manager in various finance departments. I worked hard to gain a BSc in Financial Services and an Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers whilst working full time and bringing up two children.
I moved into consultancy and process improvement, spending more than six years helping businesses improve their own processes, systems and profitability and obtained a Six Sigma / Lean qualification.
We first started renovating properties together and ended up renovating and selling over a dozen! It was natural to diversify into lettings and holiday lettings, eventually setting up our own B&B, Dean Valley Panorama. This enabled us to live in the place we loved with fantastic views and to make a living doing what we enjoyed – meeting people and introducing them to the Forest of Dean.
After four years, we decided to concentrate on helping others start their own Bed and Breakfasts and sold the business as a successful going concern.
In our spare time, we both love to play tennis, watch sport, travel, keep fit and spend time with our family.
