Two-day B&B training courses

Ken and Paula Hartley’s Bed and Breakfast training is based upon years of hands-on experience running a B&B. We focus on how we can save attendees both money and time whilst making ownership of a B&B as hassle-free as possible. Although we have on occasion run online B&B training, our two-day courses are face-to-face and provide the biggest benefits.

At present, our Bed and Breakfast courses are based at Cantley House Hotel, Wokingham, RG40 5QG. Most attendees are from the south east of England but others do travel from further north and decide to stay the night. If you are travelling from afar, you can stop at the hotel itself, depending on availability, or we would be happy to recommend alternative accommodation.

Finance & Record-keeping for Your B&B

Dealing With Customers and Making the Lifestyle Change

We have hosted people from all walks and at all stages of life on our courses, including a couple expecting their first child, a retired lady from Africa wanting to show other people her beautiful native country, people looking to leave long corporate careers and others who have received inheritance money and want a new start.

The cost of the two-day course is £225 per attendee. If two people from the same organisation attend, you’d enjoy 10% off the total price. We would certainly recommend you both attend if you are starting out as a partnership. A non-refundable deposit of £100 per attendee is required to secure your place, with the balance payable on arrival at the venue.

The course runs from 10am – 4pm both days in the lovely Cantley House Hotel, just off the M4. Our courses are always held at the weekend.

We are members of The Bed & Breakfast Association, which is the UK’s trade association for B&Bs. On our B&B training course, we explain how and why you might want to consider joining the association yourself.


What will I get to take away from the course?

 You will receive free of charge:

  • The full set of presentation slides, copyrighted and for your own use only
  • An electronic pack containing further details plus all sorts of useful information
  • A certificate confirming you have completed our courses, which is essential if you need funding as you can present it as evidence of your commitment to your new career

For an extra charge you can purchase the following:

If you prefer, instead of attending our two-day course, you can use our bespoke Consultancy service.

This is where we visit you at your home or your B&B to analyse your specific requirements. We listen to your story and vision then use our inside knowledge to provide you with recommendations based on your own budget and timescales. The goal is to help move you forward to greater profitability and efficiency. From designing a business plan for a Bed and Breakfast to getting the best out of your team, we can help. You will have benefit from advice from two consultants for the price of one. We provide a balanced male and female view.
